Find your happiness and learn to put it first *
Can things be different?
You keep it all together for the outside world, yet inside you feel different – tired, stressed, overwhelmed.
You think - other people have it worse, I need to suck it up!
You want to experience deep relationships with others, yet something holds you back.
Rationally you believe positive aspects about yourself, but sometimes an inner voice tells you different and that makes you feel defeated.
You desire more, yet fear keeps you from making changes.
Ways We Can Work Together
-
Internal Family Systems/Parts Work
Internal Family Systems (IFS) theorizes the mind as made up of distinct "parts," each with its own perspectives, memories, and roles. These parts can include: Exiles (vulnerable parts that hold pain and trauma), Managers (protective parts that try to maintain control and prevent vulnerability), Firefighters (reactive parts that emerge to manage crises or overwhelming emotions, often through impulsive actions).
IFS emphasizes the importance of understanding and harmonizing these parts, as well as fostering a core Self, which is characterized by qualities like compassion and curiosity. The goal of IFS therapy is to help individuals heal by integrating their parts and promoting self-leadership, leading to greater emotional balance and well-being.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is primarily used to treat trauma and PTSD. The core idea is that distressing memories can be processed and integrated more effectively through bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of guided eye movements. The individual focuses on a traumatic memory while simultaneously being guided through a set of eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This process is believed to help reduce the emotional charge of the memory, allowing the individual to reprocess it in a healthier way.
EMDR involves eight phases, including history-taking, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and reevaluation. The goal is to help individuals move past trauma, reduce distress, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Psycho-Spiritual/Soul Work
In psycho-spiritual therapy, I utilize tools like the Enneagram, Human Design and Gene Keys to help clients: Gain Insight (understand your unique traits and life purpose), Embrace Authenticity (recognize and accept your strengths and challenges), Facilitate Growth (identify areas for personal development and healing), Enhance Decision-Making (learn to make choices aligned with your true self).
This integrative approach aims to foster deeper self-awareness, emotional healing, and spiritual growth, helping individuals align with their authentic selves.

Energy Work
Energy work in therapy involves techniques that focus on the body’s energy systems to promote healing and well-being. It is based on the idea that energy flows through us, and blockages or imbalances can contribute to physical, emotional, or mental issues. In therapy, I work with concepts like chakras, Reiki, tapping, and guided visualizations, which can clear blockages and restore balance.
The goal of energy work in therapy is to enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and support emotional healing, allowing individuals to connect more deeply with themselves and their experiences.
About Me
Hi, I’m Susan. I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Cincinnati, Ohio. A few things about me…I believe we all have the capacity to change and overcome difficult things. I believe that we have many parts to ourselves; parts of ourselves that we love, parts of ourselves that we don’t like; parts that help manage our lives and get things done, and parts that sometime get in the way leaving us wondering, “that’s not me, why did I act that way”? I believe that we don’t have control over our environment or how others behave, but we do have control over how we respond. I believe that everyone has a desire to be connected with others and that our life depends on it.
Are you ready to make a change in your life?
Let me join you on your journey.
